The Berry Fire burned throughout August and September, 2016, in the area between Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone, along the Rockefeller highway. While forest fires seem devastating, they play a critical role in the preservation of the ecosystem. A year later, an early snowfall turned the area into a magical land of black and white, punctuated by flashes of bright orange where the burned bark had peeled away.
