Blue Wildebeest, aka Brindled Gnue, White-bearded Wildebeest (Connochaetes Taurinus)
Young cheetahs chase after this herd at dawn. While unsuccessful at bringing down breakfast, they are learning valuable lessons that will enable them to successfully hunt for food once they leave their mother.
Wildebeest can detect rain up to 30 miles away - they follow the rain, and the resulting new grasses, across the Serengeti, into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Ndutu) and back north to the Masai Mara in Kenya - The Great Migration. Wildebeest travel over 1000 miles a year in search of the best grass.
