These ice caves are amazingly beautiful and full of blue light. Inherently unstable, these caves can collapse at any time although this one has lasted for years. Generally, the ice caves are only safe to enter during the winter when everything is frozen solid.

  • Vatnajokull, Jokulsarlon, Iceland.<br />
These ice caves are amazingly beautiful and full of blue light. Inherently unstable, these caves can collapse at any time although this one has lasted for years. This one is equipped with a rope handhold at the entrance, and a small zodiak used the cross the stream at the bottom when the water is high. Generally, the ice caves are only safe to enter during the winter when everything is frozen solid.

In the event of an eruption, the entire twon could be wiped out by flooding, with the church the most likely surviving building (if any).
